Whether you’re a first-year student, a transfer, or a senior, the importance of community on campus is a crucial element of the student experience. As Westfield State prioritizes the spirit and accessibility of community, students are encouraged to utilize the Nestwork, a diverse array of online tools meant to keep track of events, club gatherings, sports games, and more.  Users can also create events of their own and check-in when they arrive, allowing for a more interactive experience.

“The Nestwork is your central hub of activity,” Matt Dellea, Director of Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership (SAIL) said. “Find events, clubs, organizations, important resources, and more! Track your involvement at the university by clicking on your profile page and access a record of all you have attended while at the University. Never be out of the loop on what is happening, and download the Modern Campus Involve App for an activities calendar on the go.

To begin, users can find the Nestwork on computer browsers as well as the Apple Store and Google Play applications. While some features may be accessible on both the web-based and application-based interface, students will need to download the Modern Campus Involve application for things like check-ins. Therefore, it’s recommended to utilize each of these methods at the appropriate times.

Events

To create an event, users should first select Forms and then Event Registration. Once users use their university credentials to sign in, they must fill out the necessary information and click Select For Approval. Submitted events are reviewed and approved by the SAIL office on campus, and appear as a calendar entry once confirmed.

Users can also restrict visibility to events based on the club or organization’s needs. The Hidden from Non-Members button allows for such exclusivity. For those who want to be contacted, the Contact Email button and RSVP link fields are optional and allow for creators to be notified of incoming messages from those who respond to each.

Organizations

Additionally, students may register organizations on the Nestwork, although they should check to see if similar or identical organizations already exist. To do so, users only need to click on the Forms page again before selecting Organization Registration. Once each field is entered, click the Submit For Approval button and wait for an approval email from SAIL.

Organizations are customizable through the Modern Campus Involve application as well, offering a more accurate experience in real-time. To update an organization’s profile, users must visit the Organizations Admin Dashboard page. Select the organization in the app and click the pencil icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. When the changes are made, click Submit.

To update an organization’s roster, visit the Organizations Admin Dashboard again and select their organization before clicking Roster, followed by the “+” sign. Additional users may be added then. Choosing the pencil icon next to another user allows you to remove or edit their position within the organization.

Check-Ins

Check-ins are simple to perform and can be done in one of two ways. After logging into the Modern Campus Involve app, users should either click on Events or the menu button in the top left corner of the screen. Under Events, choose the Host Events tab, or click on Collect Attendance if users went by route of the menu. A list of events being hosted on campus will be shown, and to check-in, users need only to select the blue “+” button next to the event you wish to attend.

It’s never too late to get involved with campus, and the University encourages students, faculty, staff, librarians, alumni, and prospective families to engage in the wide array of tools available to them. Any further questions or concerns about the Nestwork should be directed to the SAIL office, which can be reached at sail@westfield.ma.edu or 513-572-5616.
