Applying as a Transfer Student

Transfer students are individuals who have completed college coursework after high school and want to continue their education at a new institution. Westfield State University welcomes transfer applicants from community colleges, four-year institutions, and other accredited colleges who are ready to continue making progress toward a bachelor’s degree.

Transfer Application Deadlines

  • February 15 - Spring MassTransfer priority deadline
  • March 1 - Spring Transfer application deadline
  • October 15 - Fall MassTransfer priority deadline
  • December 15 - Fall Transfer application deadline

Whether you are a part of the MassTransfer program or not, start by completing the free, online application.

 

Official Transcript(s)

Submit official transcripts for all colleges or universities you've attended.

Students who are not Massachusetts Community College graduates must also submit an official high school transcript for grades 9-12. Applicants who attended more than one high school are required to submit official high school transcripts from all high schools attended. Applicants who earn a high school equivalency diploma (GED) are required to submit an official GED scores report and an official copy of their high school transcript(s).

Course Schedule

A list of your current course schedule, including course number, title, and credits.

(Optional) Essay

Students are not required to submit an essay with their application to Westfield State but may submit one if they choose. There is no specific essay question that students must answer; students are welcome to submit an essay with a topic of their choosing.

Any student wishing to submit an essay should copy and paste the essay into the “College Essay (optional)” section on the application.

(Optional) Letters of Recommendation 

Students who wish to submit letters of recommendation are welcome to do so. Recommendations should come from educators (teachers, advisors, guidance counselors, etc.) and students should submit no more than 3 letters of recommendation.
